The Barossa Valley, is located just one hours drive north of Adelaide, and is one of Australia's oldest wine regions, and one of the world's great wine producing areas.

Getting to the Barossa Valley.

Adelaide is well serviced by regular domestic and international flights. Once you arrive in Adelaide there are plenty of options to complete your journey to the Barossa. Car hire, Barossa tour operators and public transport are all available.

There are a number of routes from Adelaide to the Barossa and you can choose depending on your time schedule and whether you're seeking a direct route or the scenic drive.

Upon arrival to the Barossa Valley, you will find it is only a short drive between the small towns and hamlets (NuriootpaTanunda, Rowland Flat and Lyndoch) which are surrounded by over 150 wineries and 80 cellar doors.

The Barossa is home to the world's oldest continuously producing shiraz, grenache, mataro, cabernet sauvignon and semillon vines. Rich reds are renowned here, as are fortified wines. There are so many internationally renowned wineries in the Barossa with equally acclaimed cellar doors and restaurants that a visit to the area will definitely reward any person with a love of regional wines, produce, and beauty

Barossa may be famous for its fantastic Australian wine, but it’s also known for its great local produce too. As the saying goes, where you find good wine, good food is never far away!

Whether you want to settle in for a long lunch or just enjoy a casual bite, there are plenty of places to chose from.

No visit to the Barossa Valley is complete without a stop at Maggie Beer’s Farm. Located just outside of Nuriootpa, beloved TV chef Maggie Beer still operates her farm, complete with restaurant, farmgate produce shop, and much more. Be sure to taste some of her jams, chutneys, pastes, sauces, and of course her signature verjuice! 

With so many incredible producers located in the Barossa Valley area, it’s no surprise that there’s a thriving farmers market scene. The largest and most impressive of these is the Barossa Farmers Market, every Saturday morning in Angaston. It’s packed full of local produce like fruit & veg, baked goodies, dairy products, smallgoods, meats, sweets, and gourmet pantry staples too.

From hot air balloon rides to tranquil walking trails, stunning views and delightful cuisine, the Barossa Valley is a must visit destination.
