Associate Professor Wei Seong Toh

Wei Seong Toh is currently a tenured Associate Professor and Research Director at the NUS Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and a Principal Investigator at the NUS Tissue Engineering Program. He also holds joint appointments at the Faculty of Dentistry and Department of Biomedical Engineering, NUS. He received his PhD from the NUS, and did his post-doctoral training at the Harvard Medical School as an A*STAR International Fellow. His research focuses on understanding the mechanisms for degeneration and developing multidisciplinary strategies for regeneration of tissues of the musculoskeletal system.

To date, he has secured over SGD8M direct funding, presented over 60 plenary, keynote, and invited talks, and published over 90 journal publications, accumulating h-index 47 and over 20000 citations. He and his team have received over 50 research awards and honours, including the A*STAR International Fellowship Award, Young Scientist Award at the World Biomaterials Congress, and World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University from 2020 to present.

He is also currently the Secretary of SOCRATES (Society for Clinical Research and Translation of Extracellular Vesicles Singapore), an executive committee member of APSEV (Asia-Pacific Societies for Extracellular Vesicles), a member of ISCT (International Society for Cell and Gene Therapy) Exosomes Committee, and a member of ISEV (International Society for Extracellular Vesicles) Task Force on Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Use of EV-based Therapeutics.
